#why not now
Life is a continuous learning experience and no matter how much you believe you've mastered whatever it is you focus on, it's always evolving and changing. We're constantly learning ourselves and without realizing it, something I have loved since childhood has taught me so many life lessons.
Running is so humbling. It has taught me to be able to take defeat with style and grace. How to let dark moments go, leave them in the past and move on. I've become comfortable "pivoting," and know with hard work and commitment you can achieve whatever it is you set your mind to. I’m grateful for the peace and calmness it provides, especially when I’m anxious or stressed. Running allows me to hit the pause button on everything else that’s going on in my life and for that short time, put it on hold.
From the moment I take my first step, I can focus on the sound of my feet hitting the pavement and just let my mind go. It allows me to see things so clearly without all the "noise," or worries that fill my mind throughout the day. It has taught me to test my own limits, strength, courage and mindset. To discover who I am and what I’m made of. It pushes me through the door of human-ness. It pushes me to be better. Become mentally/emotionally stronger. Have the “I can do it,” mentality vs the “What if,” mindset. To push fear aside and continue forward despite what could happen.
When you think about it, life is no different. I never thought running would have such a valuable life lesson but every time I put one foot in front of the other, its a lesson in moving forward one step at a time. With each stride I learn, let go, and push away my own self doubt and limitations to make way for new experiences. Who knows what the future holds? It might be bigger, better, or completely different than I could imagine. We all want to live life to the fullest and we certainly all face challenges and adversity along the way. When you're in a rut, keep your chin up, lace up your sneakers, jam out to some motivating music and take that first step...there' s never a better time than right now.
